In conjunction with the display of FHQ III, a 3-D printed data sculpture of the Florida Historical Quarterly, David Staley will discuss the emergence of "the creative humanities." With digital fabrication tools, 3-D printers and CNC routers a potential part of the humanist’s tool kit, what will humanists create with these tools? What sorts of things and objects will humanists make? The creative humanities signals that humanists will create material forms that make evident our reading of texts, the material traces of our reading.
David Staley is an associate professor of History, and holds adjunct appointments in the departments of Design and Educational Studies at The Ohio State University. He is the author of three books:
