The workshops provide an opportunity to meet with the subject librarian assigned to your program to learn about academic resources in your discipline, how to apply effective library research strategies, and get help with questions about resources. As you get ready to do your literature review for a research paper, thesis, or dissertation, this 90‐minute workshop will focus on introducing you to sources available at the John C. Hitt Library and in discipline‐specific online databases.
The workshop will cover Engineering Village, a sophisticated discovery platform for current and past engineering and computer science literature tracked in databases, such as Compendex and INSPEC. The workshop will also provide hands‐on practice using Engineering Village to find articles and conference papers in your field, options to track research in particular journals or by specific authors, and ways you can monitor new research output going forward. Other resources such as Web of Science and IEEE Xplore will also be highlighted so you can see how to apply what you learn to other resources. A demonstration of how to find dissertations and theses in the UCF Libraries will also be included.
