Collecting and Digitizing Local History Workshop: How to Conduct a History Harvest

History is not limited to archives and museums, it is all around us. Everyday people, from all walks of life, have stories, photos and artifacts to share. Local communities can preserve their own history simply by harvesting it. History Harvest is an open invitation to local people to share their historical artifacts and stories through digital preservation.

RICHES and the UCF History Department invites you to attend a free workshop that demonstrates how you can host a History Harvest. 

Attend this free workshop and learn how to conduct a History Harvest. The workshop includes:

• Tips on how to organize a History Harvest
• Hands-on instruction on digitizing images
• Techniques to properly scan items and add historic information to digital files
• An introduction to the RICHES™ Mosaic Interface, an interactive digital collection of Florida’s history. This tool offers a searchable database with access to images, documents, podcasts, oral histories, films, and visualizations.

This workshop is open to the public.
