Despots, Deployments and Disobedience: The Changing Face of International Peacekeeping Operations
Peacekeeping operations have vastly expanded since the end of the Cold War, including both the number of missions and the number of soldiers on deployment. Recent scholarship has suggested that participation in these operations destabilizes countries that contribute, including increasing army mutinies and coups d’état. This presentation explores these tendencies in light of the changing nature of peacekeeping operations, which increasingly rely on personnel from poor dictatorships.

He is especially interested in civil-military relations, with regional interests in Africa and the Middle East.
