Ethics in Research: How to Start on the Right Path

Friday, May 25, 2018 10:30 a.m. to noon

To do research well, one must follow the rules of professional conduct. Following the rules and applying them can be difficult without an appreciation of their foundation in ethics. Additionally, research itself can lead to new situations for which there are no rules. In this session the presenter will lead participants in a discussion of the ethics of research. The group will explore how ethics applies to the day-to-day practice of research (e.g., handling data, designing experiments, collaborating across disciplines) as well as broader societal issues of ethics in research, science, and technology.

Facilitators: Dr. Stephen Kuebler and Dr. Jonathan Beever
