Do you want to expand your language and cultural fluencies, enhance your academic resume, and gain a competitive edge in the global workforce? UCF STARTALK Russian Language and Culture Immersion Program may be for you! In 2018, STARTALK is welcoming high school students, community members, and UCF students.
The United States government designates Russian as a “critical need” language, and fluent Russian speakers are in high demand in the international business, science, military, and government sectors. This intensive, three-week program is designed to provide highly motivated students with an opportunity to acquire and/or improve their proficiency in this sought-after language. In addition to language instruction, participants will learn about contemporary Russia’s influence, politics, national identity, and culture for a well-rounded, holistic view of a fascinating nation in transition.
Students accepted into this competitive program will engage in a three-week, non-residential immersion program at UCF from July 9 to July 27, 2018, every weekday (M-F) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are no prerequisites for this program and no prior knowledge of Russian language is needed.
High school students will receive first priority in registration. The student must be at least 15 years of age by July 9.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement and life-long membership in the UCF Russian Club. UCF students may also choose to enroll in the 3-credit-hour RUT 3505 (Russian Culture and Civilization) course and receive credit for their participation in this program. Advanced notice and regular tuition fees will apply in order to receive credit. Please contact Alla Kourova for details.
