UCF's Coastal and Estuary Ecology Lab (CEELAB) is hosting a shoreline restoration event to prevent further erosion and potential damage to the Eldora State House in Canaveral National Seashore. Erosion is a prevalent issue along Florida’s coastlines, exacerbated by wakes from boat traffic and severe weather. This depletion of sand can lead to habitat loss for many native species, as well as property damage to our State’s cultural treasures.
Volunteers will assist in deploying stabilized oyster shell, as well as planting mangroves and marshgrass on the coastline adjacent to the historic Eldora house to allay this beach deterioration. This is a family-friendly event, with activities for kids, food and giveaways!
