According to recent research, early twentieth-century farm women have largely "remained hidden in plain sight" and have been largely overlooked by historians. Despite the lack of attention, rural-living and farm-working women played a crucial role in the creation and expansion of a functioning market economy through their production and consumption. This presentation discusses the push and pull relationship that existed between home demonstration agents and women in the Southern United States.
