Meet Jamie Schanbaum, para-athlete and meningitis survivor

Wednesday, April 10, 2019 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Jamie is a Gold Medal winning U.S. para-athlete and a meningitis survivor.

She survived meningitis when she was just 20 years old and attending college in Texas. Though her experience may not be the same as others’, she is passionate about educating teens, college students and young adults about meningitis and the importance of vaccination.

Join us for a 1-hour presentation given by Jamie and featuring a panel Q&A with medical professionals.

Immediately following this presentation, Student Health Services staff will be on site until 3pm offering meningitis vaccines for anyone interested (fees may apply).

The risk of contracting meningitis B is approximately 3.5 times higher in college students aged 18-24 years compared with persons not attending college of the same age.
