Undergraduate researchers are often tasked with finding and summarizing previous scholarship. (These summaries are called literature reviews in some disciplines.) Summarizing previous scholarship is often the first step to finding or refining your own research topic, too, as you notice gaps in the existing research that you can fill.
This information session provides an overview of different types of summaries and literature reviews. It breaks down how to find relevant scholarly works, how to read and summarize them, and how to compare and synthesize their arguments into a summary.
