Graduate School Preparation Intensive

The Grad School Prep Intensive is taking place on Saturday, October 21, in-person from 10AM - 4PM in Live Oak. Physical address is 4115 Pyxis Lane, Orlando, FL.

The Graduate School Prep Intensive: Application Information Seminar, hosted by Academic Advancement Programs (AAP), provides undergraduate students interested in pursuing a graduate degree with intensive graduate school application preparation. Dr. Don Asher, a nationally renown speaker on graduate school preparation, will be leading the event. The goal of the intensive is to help students feel confident and prepared as they apply to the graduate programs of their choice.

Dr. Donald Asher is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on the graduate school admissions process. Tens of thousands of students have seen his lectures, tapes and teleconferences. He is the author of numerous books including Graduate Admissions Essays, the best-selling guide to graduate admissions.
 

Workshop topics for the Graduate School Preparation Intensive will include:

• Challenges of first generation and underrepresented students in graduate school 
• How to discover the top programs in your field of study and how to select the right program for you
• Three main ways to make your application stand out against the competition
• The reasons some 4.0 students are not admitted and some 2.8 students are and receive funding
• How to represent low grades, low GRE scores and other difficulties in the best possible light
• Funding for graduate school: fellowships, assistantships and other funding sources 
• Statement of Purpose: how to write a truly outstanding statement of purpose
• Five techniques that will improve any student’s essay. How personal should the statement of purpose be: sciences vs. humanities?
