WAC Wednesday: "Considering AI-Refusal in Writing Contexts "

Wednesday, November 19, 2025 noon to 1 p.m.

You are invited to join the UCF Writing Across the Curriculum Program for WAC Wednesdays, a virtual discussion group for faculty and staff interested in writing within and across disciplines.

Fall 2025 sessions will continue to engage questions around AI and Writing and will take place on Zoom from 12:00-1:00 PM on selected Wednesdays in September, October, November.

Our session on "Considering AI-Refusal in Writing Contexts " will take place on November 19th from 12-1PM on Zoom. Although the most prominent narratives suggest that everyone is using AI to enhance their writing, many companies and organizations still prohibit all or some AI use. In this session, we will discuss the ways in which we opt in or opt out of AI use for our own writing as AI becomes more and more embedded in word processing applications, file storage systems, and publishing practices. Additionally, we’ll consider who has the right to refuse AI use at the university, in the industrial sector, or in public spaces. And we’ll discuss the stakes for doing so. Join us for thoughtful, engaged conversation and reflection.
