Designing Your Special Programs Course: From Needs Assessment to Design

Tuesday, September 29, 2026 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This interactive session will guide UCF faculty and staff through the process of designing effective non-academic courses, known as Special Programs, using the ADDIE instructional design model. Participants will explore how to conduct a needs assessment, define clear goals, organize content, and create an engaging and accessible learning experience. They will also receive a ready-to-use Special Programs Course Model that can be customized for their own course.

In this workshop, you'll learn to:

  • define the ADDIE model and its role in designing non-academic courses.

  • use ADDIE and the Special Programs Questionnaire to create a practical course blueprint.

  • prepare and submit a course-shell request through the Special Programs Support Tool.

This workshop is limited to faculty, staff and GTA's only.
