Outdoor Adventure is proud to partner with Ranger Rick’s SCUBA Adventure, one of the most experienced scuba dive outfitters, for our entry-level NAUI SCUBA certification course. This course is available to students currently enrolled at UCF.
Note: We are currently working on adding access to our certifications for Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) members, UCF faculty and staff, and Valencia students.
Upon successful completion of this course and checkout dives, graduates are considered competent to engage in open-water diving activities without supervision, provided the diving activities and the areas dived approximate those encountered during training. No previous scuba experience is required; however, basic swimming skills are necessary to complete the course.
Cost: The total cost of the certification is $400, with $60 due at registration. The remaining balance is due the first weekend of the certification and is payable to Ranger Rick SCUBA Adventures. If you pay by card, there is an extra $5 fee, bringing the total to $405.
Schedule: To receive the scuba certification, you must complete two consecutive weekends of training. All itinerary times can be changed by the instructor as needed.
General Itinerary:
- Friday – 5:30-9 p.m. in the RWC Wet Classroom
- Saturday – 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. in the RWC Lap Pool
- Sunday – All-day check-out dive at a local dive destination
- Following weekend (Saturday or Sunday) – All-day check-out dive at a local dive destination
Registration and Refund Policies:
The registration deadline for each course is the Wednesday before the first weekend. Participants may request a refund of their deposit or a transfer to another certification month until the Outdoor Adventure Center closes that day. No refunds or transfers will be given after the registration deadline, regardless of the reason. Participants are allowed up to one free transfer; after that, they must pay an additional deposit. Failure to be on time for class sessions, pool sessions and/or dives may result in complete forfeiture of all payments. In the event that Outdoor Adventure or the SCUBA program cancels a course due to weather, insufficient participation, etc, participants will receive a full refund.
