A moderate amount of stress is necessary for daily living. But when stress begins to negatively impact health, more and more people are forgoing prescriptions in favor of meditation. A long-standing practice in Eastern medicine, meditation is finding its place in the U.S. with an increasing amount of medical evidence to back it up. Hear how meditation can literally alter the body’s response to stress, as well try a few self-directed, stress-reduction exercises yourself.
This session will be led by Jonathan Mitchell, M.A., M.S., a Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Psychology at UCF. Jonathan also is a clinical partner at UCF Pegasus Health, where he counsels patients in need of making healthy behavioral changes.
