Introduction to Patents and Trademarks

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Have an idea for a new invention? Or maybe you’ve improved upon an existing concept and wonder if you’re the first to think of it. Considering starting a business and want to know if your name or logo is already in use? These questions and more will be addressed at this session on intellectual property as it relates to patents and trademarks. Join UCF’s Patent & Trademark Librarian, Missy Murphey, to learn about what can be patented, the application process, the rights that come with registration, and the wealth of information freely available to the public via the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) website and others. Please bring your own laptop if you would like to follow along with the presentation. Students must register for all workshops through their myUCF Student Center under Graduate Students then Pathways to Success.
